FIFA has threatened to impose sanctions if Portugal did not immediately approve the new statutes in accordance with agency rules football world.
Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) hopes the new statute could be approved in the polls on 19 March, although the previous statute was rejected by the local association as concerns about loss of influence at the national level.
"If the (agreement) is not reached, the Association will bring the case to FIFA's Emergency Committee to provide the possibility of sanctions, including a ban on playing," explained the electronic mail that is sent from the FIFA media office.
Meanwhile, FIFA president Sepp Blatter stated: "We are worried by the situation in Portugal. Federation that they should approve the statute."
In the letter thanked the board FPF said, "We will seek the understanding and responsibilities of our members on 19 March, so we can avoid sanctions for Portuguese football."
If FIFA really impose sanctions, indeed it was a great loss for Portugal. "Seleccao" threatened could not be in Euro 2011 and the elimination of Portugal club like Porto, Benfica and Braga from the Champions League.
