AFC: Sriwijaya 3 - 1 Song Lam Nghe An

Palembang: Sriwijaya overcame a man disadvantage to see off Song Lam Nghe An 3-1 at Jakabaring Stadium and retain their grip on top spot in Group F of the AFC Cup.

Bobby Satria was sent-off shortly after the half-hour mark but goals from Keith Gumbs, Thierry Gathuessy and Budi Sudarsono sealed the points. Pham Van Quyen had equalised for the visitors.

The Indonesians now head the table on seven points after three games while Song Lam Nghe An remain on three following their win at VB.

Sriwijaya dominated the game from the opening whistle and took the lead after 14 minutes when captain Gumbs' free-kick from just outside the area went through the wall and caught the keeper unawares to open the scoring.

Song Lam did not have their first chance until the half-hour mark but Ferry Rotinsulu managed to keep out Nguyen Ngoc Anh's shot.

However, the complexion of the game changed in the 33rd minute when Satria tripped Ngoc Anh with the latter clear on goal.

As the last man, the referee had no other choice but shown Satria a red card but Van Quyen sent the subsequent free-kick wide of the target.

Sriwijaya still comfortably controlled possession despite their numerical disadvantage. Sudarsono danced his way past a couple of Song Lam defenders in the 56th minute but his final execution was off target.

Having been content to sit back, Song Lam fashioned an equaliser a minute later when Nguyen Cong Manh was set free on the flank and delivered fine cross into the six yard box which was tapped in by Van Quyen.

Sudarsono almost restored Sriwijaya's lead after Arif Suyono picked him out unmarked with a superb cross, but the former Indonesia international striker fired wide once again.

Sriwijaya finally got their second goal in the 77th minute after Gathuessy climbed over the Song Lam defence to meet Ponaryo Astaman's cross with a powerful header.

Barely a minute later, the hosts clinched the points when Sudarsono made amends for his previous miss with a composed finish to beat the Song Lam keeper.

Sriwijaya could have widened the margin in stoppage time but Gumbs’ goal was ruled out for offside.
