ENGINE

The CL 500 generates 285 kW (388 hp) with a peak torque rating of 530 Nm. The V8 model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and emits a refreshingly restrained sound at moderate speeds.

Compared with the predecessor model, the maximum torque has increased by 70 Nm and the engine output by 60 kW (82 hp) – at the same low emissions level. The secret ingredient is an optimised air supply: our engineers have employed sensors to significantly improve air flow into the intake and outlet channels.

The CL 500 4MATIC is now also available in an all-wheel drive version with the same performance. It is joined by an even sportier version with a V8 engine: the CL 63 AMG. Its AMG 6.3-litre engine delivers 386 kW (525 hp), plus a maximum torque of 630 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 4.6 seconds.

CL 600 and CL 65 AMG

Cutting-edge engine technology empowers the CL 600 to rapidly develop its strength. Our top-of-range power unit, the V12 Biturbo, is more athletic than ever before. The power output has been increased from 368 kW (500 hp) to 380 kW (517 hp) and the torque rating from 800 Nm to 830 Nm. It also displays outstanding response characteristics: the V12 Biturbo develops its maximum torque rating from 1900 rpm and maintains it up to 3500 rpm. The CL 600 has two turbochargers and intercooling to thank for such excellent values.

To save weight, the cylinder heads are made from die-cast magnesium. 3-valve technology improves airflow and, thanks to dual ignition, optimises combustion.

It is hard to believe, but the massive power of the CL 600 has been further increased - the CL 65 AMG is here. The sporty top of the line model of the CL-Class awaits you with a 6.0 litre V12 biturbo powerplant which produces 450 kW (612 HP) and a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm.

TRANSMISSION

5-speed automatic transmission

To accommodate the enormous power of the V12 Biturbo engine, the CL 600 is equipped as standard with 5-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift. This transmission unit ensures particularly smooth gear-shifting and adapts to your individual driving style.

By simply nudging the selector lever on the steering column, you can also shift up and down manually.

7G-TRONIC automatic transmission

The 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission (standard for the CL 500 and the CL 500 4MATIC) contributes to an optimum transmission ratio. The resulting swift response characteristics and optimum acceleration enhance both driving pleasure and comfort. You will barely feel the gearshifts. One of the benefits of the seven ratio steps is a reduction in the average engine speed. This in turn contributes to lower fuel consumption and noise emissions.
