Grandma's Break Marathon World Record

ALTHOUGH the age of 92 years, Gladys Komba Burril can complete a marathon, held in Honolulu, Hawaii. Guinness World Records made ​​a note of it as a new record for the oldest women who completed the race distance.

Guinness World Record to give the award to the Burrill, Tuesday (5 / 4). Institute Burril time records confirm that 9 hours and 53 minutes in a marathon in Honolulu on December 12, 2010.

"If you want to be healthy and live long like me, perbanyaklah walk. I like running because I can stop and smell the fragrance of flowers," Burrill said after receiving the garland of Hawaii board member. Gladys also earned the nickname as The Gladyator.


Previously, Burrill riding airplanes, mountain climbing, hiking in the desert, and menungang horse. He then took part in his first marathon in 2004, when he was 86 years.

Since then, Burril successfully completed five of seven races. He was sidelined in 2008 because her husband died. He also failed to reach the finish line in a marathon match in 2009 because of a stomach disorder.

Burrill record is also recognized by World Records Academy and the National Track and Field United States. He exceeded the previous record which was recorded Jenny Wood-Allen from Dundee, Scotland. Wood-Allen completed the London Marathon 2002 at the age of 90.
