Argentina legend Diego Maradona will become coach of the club Al-Wasl Dubai starting next season, according to club vice-president announced Marwane Ben Bayatt in Dubai Monday.
"We have reached an agreement with Maradona and we will soon issue more details," said Ben Bayatt.
Maradona, the former football star's 50-year-old, previously the coach of Argentina national team in South Africa, but then was fired after his team humiliated Germany 0-4 in the quarter-finals.
Since then, Maradona mentioned will deal with several clubs, including English Premier League club and national teams of Iran, but apparently none of these speculations are proven.
Certainty that Maradona will train in Dubai are in fact already known since last Saturday when he visited the Al-Wasl training facility and met with the managers of the club.
Al Wasl is currently perched in fourth in the domestic league standings and looking after firing coach Sergio Farias in March.
Maradona is Argentina's best players throughout history and take part credited with delivering his country won the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and a runner-up four years later in Italy.
He has performed as many as 91 times to defend the national team and contributed 34 goals during 21 years of his career. As a professional player, Maradona was wandering in the club in Argentina, Spain and Italy.
His career as coach early in Textil Mandiyu in 1994, then moved to Racing Club a year later, before believed to be the national coach of Argentina in November 2008.
Under the leadership of Maradona, Argentina could be in danger and nearly failed to qualify for South Africa after the manipulated host Bolivia 1-6.
Having finally escaped to South Africa, Argentina started with a pretty impressive preliminary round by winning all three group games before to get rid of Mexicans in the last 16.
But Argentina's dream to go further halted by double world champions Germany to score a landslide 0-4.
