Merpati plane Fall Into Sea

KAIMANA, KOMPAS.com - Planes Merpati MA-60 fell from a height of 15,000 feet into the sea near the Airport or Airport Utarom Kaimana, West Papua, on Saturday (05/07/2011) at around 14:00 CEST. New SAR team managed to evacuate 15 people from 27 victims were killed.

The plane was flying from Sorong to Kaimana. Head Utarom Airport, Jake Karim, said the aircraft is expected to fall at 14:05 pm CDT. The plane allegedly lost his balance and then fell into the sea due to bad weather.

Based on information from witnesses at the scene, before the fall, the plane Merpati MA-60 will make landfall. The plane was circling above the airport, then turn left, and suddenly fell into the sea. The plane split into two parts.

The death toll was entirely made up of 18 adults, 1 child, 2 infants, and 6 flight crew. Until now, the SAR team still continues to sweep to find other victims were killed by adding personnel and scuba gear.

Police have put the police line at the crash site is just 500 meters from the beach. Majority of deaths are citizens who will travel to Sorong Nabire. One of the dead who could be evacuated was the copilot. (Source: Radio Republik Indonesia)
