4G network testing performed by Everything Everywhere and BT involves 200 homes in St Newlyn East and South Newquay. The trial results based on long term evolution technology shows Internet access speeds up to 150Mbps. That is, faster than the 3G technology which has a speed of about 1.5 Mbps. 4G technologies that were tested were able to accelerate the distribution of broadband services to remote areas in accordance with government strategy.
To implement this strategy, the local government gives a subsidy of  £ 530 million until 2015. BT is committed''to working with the government and using technological innovation,''said Chief Executive Officer of BT Wholesale Neil Stagg. 4G networks will operate in the 800MHz spectrum. Ofcom plans to auction off licenses nationwide in 2012.
